The Importance of setting goals

I have just finished reading an article by Stuart Tan about how to Supercharge your career to create a massive Breakthrough and find it very useful. I believed most of us know that it is important to set goals of what we wanted to do however to set and to do is two different thing. One must know that when setting a goal, one must be SMART. SMART stands for Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time Bound. It is important to stick to this five words when setting goals. However the real difficult part is yet to come. To set a goal is easy, sometimes even myself when come to set goals i might get too carried away and thought that everything is easy and if i succeed i will like this and that. However when come to carry out your plans to attain your goals, you must possess SOMETHING! This SOMETHING is the one that differentiate between failure and success. What is this SOMETHING that is so important? It is the never say die attitude as well as learning from your mistakes. HOWEVER most people give up on the first second they finish their goals setting. The reason is that goals they set are not realistic, therefore it is important to stick to SMART. For those that take the first step to carry out their goals, i would not yet congrats you, because this marks the starting of your journey. During the process you might experience dissapointment, dejection, frustation and alot alot of negative feelings, however if you have the SOMETHING that i mentioned, these negative feelings will in turn drive you toward your success! With never say die attitude, you will continue to try again, again and again when fail, back up with learning from mistakes attitude, you will keep on improve your methods and eventually success is just in front of your eyes. To put yourself on the line, will help you to push yourself toward success! When you put yourself at risk, as human being by instinct they will do whatever mean to survive, setting and carry out a goal is the same thing, when your life is at the stake and have no back up plan, no alternative choice, you will tend to do it until you are success. So at the end of this post, i will encourage all of you to start with setting up your goals. Do remember to stick with SMART. Do something as the diagram below and set it as your desktop wallpaper to constantly remind you to stick with your goals.

"To put yourself on the line, will help you to push yourself toward success!" -Stephen
